1. Handling of the utilities:

a) Arrangement for your utilities to be disconnected. 
b) Request refunds for any deposits made.
c) Have the meters read
d) Provide new address to utility companies for them to send their final bill.  Such companies might include: Water
e) Gas
f) Electric
g) Cable - return box if necessary
h) Internet access
i) Telephone
j) Make arrangements to connect utilities at your new residence.

2. Search for and carefully pack all vital documents such as:

a) Passports
b) Medical records
c) Tax records
d) Military records
e) Bank records
f)  Vehicle titles
g) Marriage license
h) Birth certificates
i) Mortgage records
j) Stock certificates
k) Insurance papers
l) School records

3. Are the auto licensing procedures or insurance rates different in your new city?

4. Will you need to arrange for a cleaning company?

5. Transfer insurance coverage to the new residence. 

6. If you have children arrange for a babysitter to watch your children on moving day.
